Lowe Beach House
These owners purchased a waterfront property in North Beach, MD with the intention of building a four-bedroom, two and a half bath vacation home.
In this piece, we intend to use phenolic wood panels and stucco to redefine what a contemporary beach home aesthetic is. The previous owner of the site was a well-loved member of the community who would often stand on the porch greeting passers-by. The Lowe's desired to commemorate this pillar of the community through the architecture of the new structure. We responded by bringing the waterfront facade of the home to a point that would subtly but spectacularly render the sun and shadows in two different ways at once along this point as the sun passes over this East-West directional home. We also maximized outdoor space with two exterior terraces and a top-floor recreation room that fully opens to the Chesapeake Bay via a sliding door.
